Session Share is a Chrome extension that exports cookies from a website into an encrypted text token and restores that token by importing cookies back into Chrome. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.
Data We Access
- Website cookies (including session cookies): accessed to export and restore sessions.
- Site URL/hostname: used to determine which cookies to export and which site to open after restore.
- Session tokens: encrypted text that contains exported cookie data.
- Passphrase (optional): used to encrypt/decrypt v3 tokens. If you enable "Remember for this browser session", it is stored only in Chrome session storage until the browser closes.
How We Use Data
- Copy session: reads cookies for the current site and encrypts them into a token.
- Preview/Restore: decrypts the provided token (using your passphrase) to show a preview and/or import cookies.
- Saved sessions: optionally saves recently copied tokens locally so you can copy/restore them later.
What We Store
- chrome.storage.local: saved sessions (token text + metadata) and UI preferences (for example, the "Direct paste" toggle).
- chrome.storage.session (optional): your passphrase if you enable "Remember for this browser session", plus temporary UI state (for example, a pending token when opened from omnibox).
You can remove stored data at any time using the extension UI (for example, "Clear all" under Saved sessions) or by removing the extension.
Clipboard
The extension writes the token to your clipboard when you click Copy. The extension does not automatically read your clipboard. To restore, you paste token text into the extension UI.
If you enable Direct paste: include passphrase in copied text, the copied text may include your passphrase. This is less secure and should only be used with trusted recipients.
Sharing and Third Parties
The extension does not transmit your cookies, tokens, or passphrase to any server operated by us. Data is not sold and is not shared with advertisers.
If you choose to send a token (and possibly a passphrase) to someone else, that sharing is done by you through your own messaging apps/services.
Security
Tokens are encrypted and signed (integrity-checked). However, tokens can grant access to your accounts. Share tokens only with trusted people. For best security, share the token and passphrase separately.
Children's Privacy
Session Share is not designed to collect personal information from children. The extension does not include accounts or registration.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect extension changes. The "Effective date" at the top will be updated if the policy changes.
